Task Title. Reading a Table: American standard

- The title of this Table is “Vacation Days per Year” per=every
- Short Description: reading left to right; 1) The left side has 8 countries, 2) From there there is information in order starting with Average =====employees give, next Average =====employee takes, and finally 3) Not used days.
- Detail (Line 1): In Brazil they have an average of 30days vacation (1), they take an average of 30 days (2), and there are no days left (3).
- Line (2-8): … write the details for every country.
- Results (the groups and details) (Task 4)

Task Activity Title: Evaluation: groups / grouping method
- Step 1: decide the result – what is the result?
- Step 2: what groups can you see – think about it?
- Step 3: make the groups [***Hint – there are three groups of countries]
Teacher example:
- In group 1 / For group 1 : there are no days vacation left. These countries include Brazil, Canada and France.
- In group 2 / For group 2 : there are a few days vacation left. There are four countries and they are Malaysia, Mexico, UK and the US. The days left are between 1 to 4 days.
- In group 3 / For group 3 : there are a lot of days vacation left. There is only one country Japan [ and they only take half the numbers of days vacation / and take 10 days only vacation ]
Task 5 Title Graph Report write a short report about the information for the 3 groups [try with no smartphone and pc]
Task 6 Title: Reflection What’s your impression about Japan’s data. Write what you think
HOMEWORK
- Find a Table about another topic (todays topic about Vacation). Including Japan and other countries. Write a short report (50-75 words). A4 paper!

Activity: making sentences;
- make sentences about the data
- experiment with sentence patterns – by trying
- listen and think about the pattern
- which sentence do you like? what is the effect or expression
- reverse method – grammar focus!
- a method to re-word the data headings
- a method to give an evaluation of the data – for example: The worst reason … / The number 1 reason… / The highest response …
- give your opinion – for example: I was surprised that… /
Summary: Facts of Information (FOI)
- we can use the internet to research for information and by using video / journals / newspapers / …
- if we copy text/sentences from the internet we use “quotation marks” and we write the URL Heading/Title
- Tables and Graphs also give a lot of information – reducing the information is helpful
- we can write the sentences using a lot of grammar / methods
- be clear and easy to understand (you do not need complex sentences!)
- we can use numbers / % / describing words – half / all of them …
***remember to learn the key words (topic words) called vocabulary / phrases (short sentences) / grammar
Task 2 Title: Reflection What’s your impression about Japan’s data. Write what you think about Japan’s work-culture / other themes – think about your group members HW and graphs (50 words). what is good / not good / … do you think it should change? Why? …
