Nov 1 HW

Aim: Read your forum outline and create a short essay

Method: Follow these steps

  • Add your title
  • Add b)
  • Create 2 body paragraphs Reason 1 (paragraph 1 – 65 words); Reason 2 (paragraph 2 – 65 words)
  • As part of your body paragraphs – recognize the opposing viewpoints / and others opinions. We often use common knowledge, but that means also in more serious situations we can research the information to consider the viewpoints or the opinions

Note* If you have a strong opinion about something, use both common knowledge and research

What does recognize mean? and how do we write about it

Fast Food: opposing viewpoints

  • fast food is quick and easy to purchase and eat – credit / merit
  • fast food is usually pre-cooked or prepared, and reheated or cooked in oil bases – demerit

Although fast food is often pre-cooked or cooked in oil, it is easy to purchase and eating fast food is very convenient

Fast Food: peoples opinions

  • some people think its okay to eat fast food every now and then (not often)
  • some people think that you should never eat fast food
  • some people don’t really care

Although some people may eat fast food regularly, I think that you should take care and only eat fast food occasionally

Cross Reference: It is important to use additional information to support or to increase the information we are exploring and learning about. We cannot rely on one source of information or one persons opinion. We must support information with supportive information, as well as to know and understand differences such as opinions. Q. how do we use cross referencing in assignments?

Video example: https://youtu.be/z0J2VELZ4RU

Procedure: A Take notes and make a list of key vocabulary (specialised words), and other main points; things to think about;

  1. Is there a similar point(s) of information that supports your website information
  2. Is there additional information (extra information) that you can use to include in your essay
  3. Is there different information that can help you include good ideas into your paragraph(s)

Teacher example:

  1. By using the same source of information, or different sources of information
  2. Or by relying on the internet for current or up to date as a source of recent information, for example Websites or Google Scholar
  3. To back up or support information we previously researched
  4. To support or expand information such as statistics, current issues, or other main points, as well as opinions
  5. To add credibility to information we want to use

Method: In this class you will search the internet for information to support your main ideas – YouTube video. Search for short videos explaining what a topic is. Use a simple search to find a good video, and I recommend that you use a video that has the transcript available.
