Lesson 4/5 – October 15th/17th

Opinion Essay

Aim: to write the opinions of others in context of your argument

Method: select an argument in your field of study and select a topic; title – A verse B

Order of paragraphs

1 Body Paragraphs: write about three main points (one paragraph for each main point) and give various view points of different people.

2 Conclusion: write your conclusion by giving your perspective on the topic – your opinion based on the information in the body paragraphs. Include a final statement about the topic.

3 Introduction: introduce the relevance of this topic; give the three main points in the essay; introduce an interesting fact of information about this topic. Do not give your opinion.

Lesson 3 – October 10th

Essay 2

Select a subject; via the videos and write your 1 page essay, or 300 – 450 words.

Aim: Write a descriptive essay explaining the Subject area

Writing Objective;

– 2 body paragraphs explaining the subject

– one body paragraph giveng your opinion about this subject area

Lesson 2

Aim: Paragraph Writing – 1 page

Method: Take your block essay and convert to paragraph essay format

Paragraph format;

  • Introduction 30-35words
  • Body Paragraph 1: Define Block and Explain Block – Definition 70-80words
  • Body Paragraph 2: Benefits – 3 references 70-80words
  • Summary: Experiences – Write a short conclusion about your topic. Do not include any new information, but, include your experiences  and perspective 30-35words

Writing Objective:

  • To explain what this subject is about
  • Connecting Paragraphs
  • References: Select between 3 to 5 references; websites, textbooks, journals and so on
  • In addition: provide your own perspective on the importance of this subject/study

Document: Follow these instructions

  • Name and student number top right
  • Title centered and underlined
  • Font – Arial
  • Line spacing 1.15
  • Space between Paragraphs

HW: complete the essay and save on USB and bring to next class:

  • body paragraph 1
  • body paragraph 2
  • summary
