Repeat Essay

Aim: Evaluate your own writing from previous essay work. You can use your new knowledge about writing and decide how you are going to re-write the essay.

Procedure: Look at previous essays and decide on re-writing an essay that you want to;

  • expand the essay information by researching different websites
  • add a paragraph to the essay – the type of paragraph? (please decide)
  • you might want to add new ideas or writing concepts (methods) to the essay. For example: write the essay differently (use the old websites – and do it again)

Requirement: is to write between 350 – 450 words.

Steps: Check your previous essays; next decide what you think you are going to do; then begin;

Objective: please consider your impression about the topic; and also include your opinion in the essay (some essays we had no opinions, they were FOI – facts of information type essays).

Recording Ideas starts with first impression.

Aim: To write your first impression after reading sources of information.

June 11 – Writing Objective: Using your first impression in an essay often gives the reader your exact starting point about a new topic.

Method: Write the following information;

  • What were you thinking about when you were searching for information, for the first time?
  • After reading information; what then did you think?
  • After all, what is your impression about the topic?

For Fridays class; write a topic introduction about the information you researched;

Word limit 100 words – 125 words.

Include your website information URL at the bottom of the introduction.

In the next class you are going to read each others topic introduction, before we continue.

June 14 – Writing Objective: Writing your opinion; using website information to support your opinion – this technique is used academic writing and research notes.

  • Identify your opinion
  • research the internet for 1 or 2 more websites for information to support your opinion.
  • Write a body paragraph 100 – 125 words
  • Show me (teacher) and then; email me before Tuesday’s class
  • Final writing objective will be given; at Gandai Tuesday 18th class G38

Strategies for supporting your opinion; include the following:

  1. Find as much information as you can from different websites
  2. Find information from one website and focus on specific details
  3. In addition; you can also support your opinion by using video source (media news)

Strategy 1 is the broad method. You can quickly read and reference some information that you need. It is sometimes difficult to find information from other websites.

Strategy 2 is the narrow method. It might take a long time to find one website with the exact information you want. If you have a good website, you can use the details to give reasons to support your opinion.

Post Graduate Research Strategy: Find a website that does not support your opinion, and mention it. (Only for Strategy 2).
