Aim: To write a full research essay [450 words]
Objectives: Write for your audience; Use the paragraph format; select the introduction (type 1 or 2); use comparison writing (2 websites) – including opinion paragraph. Total 5 paragraphs – 450 words (420-450).
Topic: Select a Topic from A list. This is the last assignment for these topics. Then we progress to the next topic list.
- Introduction 40/60 words + 70 words
- Body Paragraph 1 – comparison 60 words -80 words + add information (method 1 or 2) 100-120 words
- Body Paragraph 2 – comparison 60 words -80 words + add information (method 1 or 2) 100-120 words
- Opinion paragraph 40/60 words + add information (method 3) 80 words
- Conclusion 40 words/ 50 words
Objective is to add information to your body paragraphs. How do we write a body paragraph to make a comparison? Give examples from the website – to add information;
Method 1 – to make a citation. For example – In website one the author says that “the number of elderly people in japan will increase to 25% of Japans population in 2040”.
Method 2 – you paraphrase (you make your own sentence) the information, for example – In website one the population of Japanese will reach 25% by 2040.
Method 3 – there is no right or wrong, but give your opinion based on the information FOI (facts of information). For example, Due to the increase in elderly population I am worried about how the government will pay for their pension.
