Demonstration (p.58) Learning about the plate method

Follow these lesson steps:

1. Play the YouTube video. Please turn on the video transcript. See the screenshot below. The video is on the left and the transcript is on the right.

1. Here is the video. Please watch:

2. Listen, and make a list of key-vocabulary and phrases, between 10-15words. Check the meaning of these words using your dictionary.

3. Answer these questions (13) in English in the eBlog. The time of the video is given to help you:

4. Turn the transcript off and listen to the video again. Repeat the video and learn the English vocabulary and phrases.

5. There are two exercises to submit;

  • Summarize this topic video – 100 words in the eBlog; Title “Video Summary”
  • Prepare a short speech titled “My Diet” 45 seconds; including good points and bad points, and opinion (15seconds each part). Use note cards!

Steps:

P.36 – 37 Possessions

Aim: Talk about possessions important to us, and to describe some features, history and use

Method: Brainstorming, writing key words and information

Procedure: Follow these steps;

  1. In the center of your diagram write your key possession
  2. There are 6 fields of information – write some key words for each field; Today – History (a); Description (b); Condition (c)
  3. Write 2 key words for each field

Demonstration: Coffee cup “DEAN & DELUCA”

  • History; present BD, !st coffee cup
  • Description; blue/gray color, easy to hold
  • Condition; good, inside coffee stain

Talk about your possession:

  1. Begin by saying “My possession is my….”
  2. Describe item/object. You don need to say the fields names
  3. You must use your keywords / phrases in sentences

4. Complete for all 6 fields: how i use it now (d); future use of it (e); other possession(s) (f).

HomeWork

Repeat the activity and select another possession. There are two setps;

  1. make your notes of the 6 fields and key words and take a photo and upload to LINE
  2. record your video and upload to LINE

How to Reference

PowerPoint method is to;

  • PowerPoint: make a new slide at the end of your presentation and call the slide ‘References’ and copy the internet links; or copy the textbook Title and Year of publication, and number them in the same order in your information [1], [2], …

Document method is to;

  • Document: at the bottom of the page include the title ‘References’ and copy the internet links; or copy the textbook Title and Year of publication, and number them in the same order in your information [1], [2], …

In the slide or document the method is to;

  • use the number of your references, for example, using [1] at the end of a bullet point in your slide, end of the sentence

Breakout Room Activities Information:

Breakout rooms

  1. Self-introductions – name, course, hometown, hobby or interests
  2. What is your favorite place and why? 15 seconds; practice by using your stopwatch on your smartphone, and try to finish on time
  3. Q/A rotation task: Give your 15-second speech about your favorite place, and the next speaker has to ask 1 question, and please you have to answer
  4. Read your full presentation p.31 – 15 sentences to other members
  5. Q/A rotation task: S1:Read ‘Other Information’ from the poster p. 30 and S2/S3 ask S1 questions. Then rotate and continue.
  6. Prized possessions. After the teachers demonstration; prepare your short talk, and present to your breakout room members.
  7. Possessions Q/A – with your partner think of a question to ask each other – about the information presented, NOT for other information.
  8. Practice presenting with your cards with each other.
