Aim: To learn how to do research. Recording information and selecting specific reference text and images
Method: For the purpose of research in academic and formal writing.
Research ideas and concepts: Researching for important information can include a varied and different range of ideas. For example:
- problems and solutions
- descriptions and facts of information (FOI)
- explanations of systems and processes to explain and how things work
- opinions and points of views of various people involved
- development, progress, and current changes
The topic (or the subject) and the reason why you are doing the research will determine the information you want to research. The choice is yours!
Select a topic based on current issues and reforms
- Recycle carried out in Japan
- Waste of food in Japan’s convenience stores, supermarkets or restaurants
- Effects of domestic travel in Japan due to the Corona virus
Research steps: follow these steps
- Find three websites in English with various information about your topic. They can hold similar information or various information
- Start recording research data, which includes main points, key words, and images. In the example below it is often a good idea to begin formatting your researched information – the same way you are going to use it. Therefore, for essay writing, record main points to focus your ideas on, include potentioal headings or sub headings you may need. In addition, some paraphrased text of information, or direct quotations, can be helpful later.
