10/15 – Task 4 to 6

Aim: To describe Japanese culture to a foreigner

Steps: Follow these steps; write 30-45 words about the three cultural aspects (things). Remember you are explaining; Food; Seasons; and other – select another aspect and explain it about Japan.

Language Goal: you are explaining information to a foreign person who has never been to Japan. It is important to use key words to help describe your information.

  • Task 6: Other: J-POP, Festivals (hometown); university life; holidays (Obon/Golden Week); Religion; clothing (Kimono/Yukata) …

Teacher example: Food

Japanese cuisine is very different depending on the time of year. Japan has a strong food culture. Prefectures are famous for particular foods. For example, my two favorites are strawberries in Tochigi and cherries in Yamagata. There are many kinds of dishes from cold to hot pot dishes. (45words)

Class Activity 10/22 (10points); There are two documents to create for class today

  1. Word document
  • Type Task 5 and 6 in a word document (Your responses)
  • Type a heading ( Heading size = 14pts / Bold (black) )for each task (type your own title)
  • Select an English Text for typing, for example: Arial, Century, Georgia (Text size = 12pts)
  • Type the word count in brackets at the end (35)
  • Then give your Document a Title: Culture (16point / Bold (Black) / center )
  • Under your title add the name and student number (center / 14pts)
  • Save your document after you finish
  • Print your document using a class printer (A311###)

2. PowerPoint

Follow the instruction for 3 slides

Slide 1: Title / Name / Student number (same as word document)

Slide 2: Select the new slide and copy and paste your heading and text (paragraph); Also add a picture in the left side of the slide (left box); check the format is the same as your word document – text font / size

Slide 3: Select the new slide and copy and paste your heading and text (paragraph); Also add a picture in the left side of the slide (left box); check the format is the same as your word document – text font; Use 16pts for text for the PowerPoint.

Print your PowerPoint slide as a 3 slide presentation
